Bayside Council to Host Pet Microchipping & Registration Day
17 February 2014
Bayside City Council will host a pet microchipping and registration day on Saturday 29 March, 2014, at Council’s Corporate Centre at 76 Royal Avenue, Sandringham, from 10am to 1pm.
Bayside residents will have the chance to have their pet microchipped at a reduced fee of $25 and will also be able to register their pets.
Council is waiving the registration fee for puppies and kittens less than six months of age that are registered at the event but pet owners will still be required to pay the State levy of $3.50 for dogs and $2.00 for cats.
All cats and dogs aged three months and older must be registered with Council.
Bayside Mayor Laurence Evans reminded pet owners that any animal registered with Council for the first time, and any new pets, must be microchipped.
“Microchipping is a permanent form of identification for pets and significantly increases the likelihood of them being returned to their homes by Council officers instead of being impounded,” he said.
Bayside City Council will be issuing its annual Animal Registration renewal notices in mid- March with payment due by Thursday 10 April, 2014.
For further information, residents should contact Bayside City Council by phone on 9599 4444 or email firstname.lastname@example.org or visit www.bayside.vic.gov.au/pets.
