The Beaumaris Sports Club has reached $2.8million in funding commitments to construct a new sports pavilion at Banksia Reserve.

Council will consider a request for a $1million contribution in its 2014/15 budget deliberations.

The proposed new pavilion would cater for the needs of football, cricket and tennis clubs based at Banksia Reserve. It would involve demolishing the existing football and cricket pavilion and extending the two-storey tennis clubhouse.

The new facility would incorporate change rooms, umpire’s rooms, a first aid room, gym, canteen and storage on the ground level as well as club social rooms and community meeting areas on the first level.

The project has received funding commitments from the Victorian Government, peak sporting agencies including the AFL, Tennis Australia and Cricket Australia and substantial donations from individuals.

Construction is expected to begin before the end of this year.
