Family sport day for kids of all abilities

On Sunday 17 April No 1 Oval at Elsternwick Park will come alive as Bayside City Council hosts the first free Sportacular! event for families of children with a disability.
Bayside Mayor Cr James Long BM JP said that the event was a great opportunity for young people from across the region to connect with sports.
“Sportacular! brings together sporting clubs from across the local area to give children of all abilities the opportunity to try before they buy and work out what local sports might work for them,” Cr Long said.
“Bayside has some of the highest participation levels in community sport in the whole of Australia and we are keen to provide everyone with the opportunity to give sport a go.”
The day will featuring super fun family challenges, complimentary show bags, give-aways and prizes as well as a free bbq and drinks the event is a great way for young people to learn how they can get fit and active.
Golfing expert and double amputee Mike Rolls will also act as an ambassador on the day to help inspire our young people to reach their full potential.
Alongside sporting activities the event will include a special sensory friendly area for people requiring a quieter space in which to learn about sport.
