“Another Record Bayside Christmas Carols” says Bayside Mayor

12 December 2012

Mayor Cr Stephen Hartney declared Council’s 2012 Bayside Christmas Carols, held at Dendy Park in East Brighton last night, “the best ever with another record attendance”.

Cr. Hartney said last night’s annual Christmas Carols attracted over 20,000 local residents and visitors who enjoyed two hours of top class entertainment followed by ten minutes of magnificent fireworks.

“We were extremely fortunate last night to have a beautiful mild evening that no doubt attracted the thousands of guests to last night’s Carols,” he said.

“We were also very fortunate to have such a professional MC in Channel 10 television identity and local resident, Mike Larkin, and a line-up of top-class entertainment.

“Simply put, this year’s Bayside Council Christmas Carols was a magical night.

“It was a night that Council can feel proud in the knowledge that it has done something that the whole community really appreciated - families and singles, young and old.”

Cr Hartney expressed his appreciation to everyone involved in the planning and execution of “such a wonderful Council event”.

“I wish to thank the Council officers who organised the event, the sponsors who helped cover the cost of the production and the fireworks, the entertainers for their time and their talent, and the community members who came along in their droves to support the event.

“Without them there just wouldn’t be such a top-class annual event,” he said.
