Take Care of Bayside on 2014 Clean Up Australia Day - Sunday 2 March
17 February 2014
The Bayside community is invited to join thousands of other caring Australians by taking part in the year’s Clean Up Australia Day on Sunday 2 March.
This annual event is a great opportunity to care for the environment, and also a good excuse for Baysiders to get outdoors with like-minded friends and neighbours to clean up our local parks, sporting fields, beaches, walking tracks and bike paths so these spaces continue to provide recreation and enjoyment to our community.
Last year Bayside residents collected over 100kgs of recyclables and 320kg of rubbish on Clean Up Australia Day – a total of 107 bags of rubbish that would otherwise pollute our recreation areas and precious marine environments.
This year Bayside City Council is coordinating the clean up of the Sandringham Harbour beach area. There are also other sites organised throughout Bayside.
Enjoy time with friends and neighbours and, at the same time, help make Bayside’s beautiful beaches and open spaces clean.
Interested residents will need to:
- Register to help out by visiting www.cleanupaustraliaday.org.au Register for Council’s Sandringham Harbour beach site, another existing site, or establish a different Clean Up site.
- When attending Clean up Day, participants need to use bags supplied by Clean Up Australia Day, and bring their own gloves, sun protection, tongs etc.
