Gallery @ BACC Reaches Visitation Milestone
Over 10,000 visitors have enjoyed a visit to The Gallery @ BACC over the past 20 months, including school children, tour groups, community organisations and visitors of all ages and backgrounds.
Since opening in May 2011, numbers have remained consistently impressive with The Gallery’s major 2012 Midwinter Masters exhibition, Artist and mentor, attracting nearly 1400 visitors alone. Dances with wools - the community based exhibition which included the “yarn bombing” of Hampton Street as part of its outreach activities - was also an outstanding success and attracted over 1000 visitors.
2013 promises a new and exciting program.
The opening exhibition for 2013, The Kenneth Jack View, is already proving immensely popular with 150 visitors recorded in the first few days.
Although still in its relative infancy, the Gallery is continuing to establish itself as a well regarded community asset. With its innovative program of high quality curated, touring and community shows, The Gallery @ BACC provides dynamic, relevant and accessible exhibitions, education opportunities and public programs and services for the community.
Bayside Mayor, Cr Stephen Hartney says that these visitation figures “are very high for a municipal gallery and reflect the quality and variety of the exhibition program and associated community outreach activities”.
