October 23 - Parent Education Session discusses “Parenting is Tough” and October 24 – Bayside’s Family Fun Day Celebration

To celebrate Children’s Week 2012, Bayside City Council Family Services will host a Parent Education Session on Tuesday 23 October and a Family Fun Day Celebration on Wednesday 24 October.

The FREE Parent Education Session will address the topic of “Parenting is Tough” at St. Leonard’s Uniting Church, 2 Wolseley Grove in Brighton, between 7.30pm and 9pm.

Presenter at the Session will be Kathy Walker, a well known and highly regarded Educational Consultant who works across all sectors of early childhood and primary education.

Topics to be discussed will include trying to juggle the requirements of children, work, financial issues, maintaining a relationship and daily house and home life.

Bookings in advance are essential as seating is limited and should be made via Council’s online booking system by phone 9599 4444, or by visiting Bayside Corporate Centre, 76 Royal Avenue in Sandringham.

The annual Family Fun Day Celebration, hosted by Bayside City Council in conjunction with the Bayside Toy Library, will be held at the Thomas Street South Reserve in Hampton between 10am and 1pm on Wednesday October 24.  Parents and carers are welcome to accompany children up to the age of five years.  The children will enjoy visiting the animal farm and playing with a range of educational equipment.

Children’s Week is a national program recognising the talents, skills, achievements and rights of young people.  It is based on the United Nations Convention on the Right of the Child, highlighting play, wellbeing and protection.
