A rare opportunity to purchase a new Brighton bathing box

28 November 2013

Bayside City Council has completed construction of a new bathing box on Dendy Street Beach in Brighton.

Multiple residents and ratepayers of the City of Bayside are expected to compete for the opportunity to purchase Bathing Box No.76A when it goes auction at 1pm on Saturday 14 December, 2013.

Net proceeds from sale will be spent on infrastructure improvements at Dendy Beach.

Selling agent Sam Paynter, Director and Auctioneer with Hodges Real Estate described the sale as a rare opportunity for Bayside property owners to acquire a wonderful lifestyle investment.

“This box is brand new and one of only 5 new boxes built in the last 50 years,” he said.

“Why buy an expensive boat which depreciates when you can buy a “limited edition” Brighton beach box with a long and proven investment track record that never goes backwards in value.

"Given the current strength of the property market and low interest rates, we are expecting strong competition from local families keen to spend summer on Dendy Beach entertaining family and friends.

“Based on the current market and previous sales, we are expecting interest over $170,000,” he said.

There are currently only 86 bathing boxes on the Dendy Street Beach.

The new bathing box was constructed by Council and the license will be sold for private use. License to occupy bathing boxes are restricted to local ratepayers and/or residents only.
