Summer by the Sea

Bayside encourages the community to discover the wonders of our magnificent coast this summer
Bayside City Council is excited to announce its participation in this year’s Summer by the Sea program sponsored by the Department of Sustainability and Environment and Parks Victoria.
Summer by the Sea will feature a total of 300 events across Victoria with 11 fun and free events in the Bayside area. Activities will be held over a four week period between 2 and 27 January with each activity designed to appeal to the whole family.
Bayside Mayor Cr Stephen Hartney said the annual program is a great opportunity for people to get involved, learn about Bayside’s unique environment and have fun on our beautiful Bayside beaches. “Summer by the Sea lets the Bayside community explore the natural wonders of our spectacular foreshore and to help develop their understanding of the coastal and marine environment,” said Mayor Hartney.
Local Bayside families are encouraged to get involved in guided coastal walks, treasure hunting, bike riding and more. There is even a dog’s breakfast so that four-legged coast lovers and their owners can join in the fun.
A special feature of this year’s Bayside program is stand up paddle boarding, a free 1 hour introductory lesson at Sandy Beach. Suitable for children 12 to 17 years old, this event will be held on 11 and 18 January, between 10am and 11am. Bookings can be made by phoning Bayside City Council on 9599 4444.
