Bayside Mobility Guide

Twenty per cent of our population live with a disability and contribute in many ways in the Bayside community through work, study, as active volunteers and by accessing the wide range of activities available.

The Bayside Mobility Guide provides maps and information about the strip shopping centres in Sandringham, Brighton and Hampton as well as information on some of the accessible community facilities located in these areas.

Accessible parking for people with a disability in Bayside

There are two types of disabled parking permits for a person with a disability. One is blue-on-white and the other green-on-white (Council issues both).

If you need a Disabled Parking Permit, you will need to fill-in a Disabled Parking Permit Application Form.

Transport: Trains, buses, taxis, trams and community transport options

Bayside is well serviced by public transport; with two train lines, Frankston and Sandringham, a tramline (64) that stops at the junction of Hawthorn Road and Nepean Hwy and a range of bus routes.

For assistance and enquires regarding travel in metropolitan Melbourne please phone the Metlink Information Centre on 131 638 or TTY 9619 2727. All trains and an increasing number of coaches, buses and trams are accessible to wheelchair users in Victoria. Staff will not lift passengers from buses and trams that are not accessible.

Multi Purpose Taxi Scheme (MPTP)

The MPTP assists Victorians, who are unable to use public transport because of a severe and permanent disability, to access subsidised taxi transport. Wheelchair accessible taxis can be booked through Silver Top Taxi Service on 8413 7202 or Yellow Cabs on 9277 3877. Travellers Aid Access Services

Travellers Aid Access Service (TAAS) provides a unique Melbourne based service offering friendly and professional support workers, to assist people with a disability and older people with personal care, including meal and toilet assistance, information and support to people who visit Melbourne. Open seven days a week, free of charge. TAAS is located at level two, 169 Swanston Street, Melbourne.
