Regional Resonance

Regional Resonance has arisen from Early Music in the Very Round at Bayside. The Early Arts Guild and Bayside City Council have combined their efforts to give enjoyment to regional music lovers through the Renaissance Warragul Project and, for the first time, performances at The Art Gallery of Ballarat. Most of these programs are repeats of concerts presented at Brighton – giving artists highly beneficial double performances. These presentations are staged in partnership with the venues listed below.

Program 1 - Early Arts Guild of Victoria:
The Woman’s Song

Sunday 15 May at 2:15pm (one-hour program)

The Early Music Consort, Rippon Lea Dancers and Erika Tandiono (vocalist with Gesture) present works from the 13th and 14th centuries. Medieval costumes and instruments.

Lyra Eterna

Sunday, May 29, at 2.15 pm (one-hour program)

Acclaimed international lutenist, Andrew Byrne, plays works by 18th century German composer Sylvius Leopold Weiss.  This program will not be repeated in Brighton.

Program 3 - Early Arts Guild of Victoria:
Four Decades of Renaissance Dancing    

Sunday, August 14, at 2.15pm (one-hour program)

This program marks the fortieth year since the Early Music Consort (then Helga Hill and her family) introduced Victorian audiences to early dance.  The Rippon Lea Renaissance Dancers will present works by Negri, Caroso and other leading choreographers of the era. Period costumes and historic musical instruments will be features of this landmark presentation.

Miriam Morris and Laura Vaughan (bass gambas), John Weretka (harpsichord) and actor Bruce Kerr present works by Dowland, Shakespeare and others.

All the Nations Rejoice

The Early Arts Guild’s 16th annual Christmas Pageant, with the Early Music Consort of Melbourne and Rippon Lea Renaissance Dancers. Period costumes, dances based on original sources, historic musical instruments.
