Playgrounds

Bayside has over 60 picturesque playgrounds, providing a range of play experiences for all ages. Enjoy the experience of playing in an adventure maze at Thomas Street, or drive a train at Banksia Reserve, Beaumaris. Look out for boats, forts, cubbies as well as the regular sand, swings, slides and skate parks. Parental guideance is reccomended at all Bayside playgrounds.

Some of our most popular playgrounds are higlighted in the  Playgrounds brochure (PDF, 603KB)

Shading

Council has conducted a shade audit of all its playgrounds. During the next few years, many trees will be planted to give natural shade at all playgrounds. Trees are an excellent and inexpensive form of shade that also help beautify our parks.

Please take proper sun protection such as hat, sunglasses and sunscreen when visiting the playgrounds. The Cancer Council Victoria recommends people stay out of direct sunlight between 10am and 3pm during the warmer months.

Access

Our community includes people with special needs and abilities, including grandparents and carers as well as children. Bayside Council is continually improving access by re-designing playgrounds and resurfacing to ensure everyone is included in the play experience.

Fencing

Council endeavours to keep playgrounds open and accessible, allowing easy entry and exit for everyone. However to provide for a range of needs and varying site circumstances, Council has completely fenced playgrounds at Dendy Park North and Elsternwick Park North.
