An evening with Don Watson - Tuesday 15 July 2008

ONE of Australia’s most distinguished writers and public speakers, Don Watson, will be the guest speaker at the next Bayside Artist Series discussion on Wednesday 13 August 2008.

The intimate discussion, at the International of Brighton, 81 Bay Street in Brighton, will focus on his latest book American Journeys.

Bayside Cultural Advisory Committee member Councillor Kristin Stegley said the evening would be an opportunity for people to listen to Don Watson’s experiences and ask him questions.

“Don Watson is one of Australia’s best speech and dialogue writers. He has written about Australian history, culture and politics for more than 25 years.

“I encourage people to attend this intimate discussion and experience first-hand what Don has to offer,” Cr Stegley said.

American Journeys is written with sly humour and investigates the meaning of the United States: its confidence, its religion, its heroes, its violence, its material obsessions, its landscapes and its people.

Bookings are essential and can be made at www.bayside.vic.gov.au/arts_events_artist_series

Tickets are $35 each and include drinks and light food.
