Heading South and Family art exhibition - Wednesday 18 June 2008

LOCAL artists Wendy Grace and Stacey Korfiatis will display their works of art in Bayside City Council’s ARTrium exhibition space at the Corporate Centre from 1 July to 22 July 2008.

Cultural Advisory Committee Member, and Dendy Ward Councillor Kristin Stegley said Wendy Grace’s series of paintings, entitled Heading South, explored the rhythmical shifts encountered in nature, textures and patterns that simulate processes of growth and decay.

“These fluid and vibrant abstract works inspired by the Bayside foreshore investigate colour relationships, gesture and abstract composition,“ Cr Stegley said.

Wendy recently completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts (Honours) at RMIT University and has exhibited extensively since 2004.

“Stacey Korfiatis’s paintings are focused on the concepts associated with family. She tries to capture the intensity of the deep family connection in her paintings,” Cr Stegley said.

Many of Stacey’s art works were created last year as part her visual arts course studying for the International Baccalaureate.

The ARTrium exhibition space is open from 8.30am until 5pm on weekdays (excluding public holidays) and entry is free. It is located in the foyer of Bayside City Council’s Corporate Centre, 76 Royal Avenue, Sandringham.
