Indigenous Bayside Perspectives - Wednesday 30 April 2008

LOCAL indigenous artists will portray their experiences of Port Phillip Bay and Bayside at the next ARTrium exhibition, held at Bayside City Council’s Corporate Centre from 22 May to 20 June 2008.

Featuring artists Bindi Cole, Reko Rennie-Gwaybilla, Michelle Wise, Winja Ulupna women artists, Salvation Army Indigenous Arts Access artists and Our Rainbow Place artists.

Bayside Cultural Advisory Committee Member Councillor Kristin Stegley said she encouraged people to visit the exhibition.

“The artwork represents a variety of Indigenous artistic expressions, mediums and relationships to traditional and contemporary Indigenous culture.

“This work is colourful and imaginative. I really encourage people to take a look,” Councillor Stegley said.

The ARTrium exhibition space is open from 8.30am until 5pm on weekdays (excluding public holidays) and entry is free. It is located in the foyer of the Bayside City Council Corporate Centre, 76 Royal Avenue, Sandringham.
