Nominate Bayside buildings for Built Environment Awards - Tuesday 24 June 2008

THE Bayside Built Environment Awards are on again. Community members can nominate outstanding design and architectural buildings that they believe best illustrate Bayside’s built environment.

Bayside Mayor Councillor Andrew McLorinan encouraged people to be part of the 2008 Built Environment Awards that would celebrate the best of Bayside’s built environment.

“Bayside features some of Australia’s most innovative building designs, which accommodate a large range of uses. The Built Environment Awards intend to help raise community awareness and understanding of design, landscape and heritage issues, and encourage quality urban design and architectural outcomes in Bayside.

“I see the Awards as providing an opportunity to reinforce and encourage the message that further development should be responsive to and respective of the high levels of existing amenity that is valued by the Bayside community,” said Cr McLorinan said.

Categories include:

  • best new dwelling
  • best new medium density housing development
  • best new or renovation to a commercial building
  • best heritage renovation or restoration
  • best environmentally sustainable design
  • best extension to an existing dwelling
  • most creative building design.

Nominations close on Friday 11 July. The successful award winners will be announced at a ceremony at the Brighton Town Hall in October 2008.
