As part of National Recycling Week – 9 to 15 November 2009 – Bayside City Council and Visy Recyling are offering free recycling tours for residents interested in finding out about what happens to their recycling once it leaves their kerbside.
National Recycling Week aims to encourage Australian householders, businesses and schools to recycle correctly to help save water, conserve resources and tackle climate change.
Through effective recovery and recycling sorting processes, Visy Recycling and Bayside City Council help divert around 1000 tonnes of recyclables from landfill every month.
Bayside residents have been invited to learn about the recovery and recycling sorting process of each type of material before they are taken to be reprocessed into new products.
Residents can attend one of Bayside City Council’s three tours of Visy Recycling's Sorting Facility in Heidelberg on Tuesday 17 November, Wednesday 18 November or Thursday 19 November from 9am – 1:30pm.
Bayside City Council will provide transportation to and from the facility from Council’s Corporate Centre at 76 Royal Ave, Sandringham, and will provide guests with a welcome morning tea.
