Battle of the Bands in Bayside - Wednesday 03 June 2009

JULY is the hottest month on the Bayside music calendar with eighteen bands competing against each other for a one of six places at the Bayside Push Start Battle of the Bands Final.

Bands will perform over two heats at the Beaumaris Community Centre on Friday 17 July and the Hampton Community Centre on Friday 31 July. Both heats start at 6.15pm and finish at 11pm.

The six winning bands will battle it out at the Final, which will be held at the Brighton Town Hall on Friday 14 August, from 6.15pm to 10.30pm.

These events are fully supervised that are strictly without drugs, alcohol and smoking.

Bayside Mayor Councillor James Long said the music competition gave young bands the opportunity to showcase their talents and perform in front of a crowd.

“These events are put on by young people and are for young people.

“The Push Start Battle of the Bands Competition is organised by Popcorn Productions, a Bayside FReeZA committee of young people aged from 12 to 25,” Cr Long said.

All events cost $8 with a pass or $10 without.

For more information and discount passes, contact Bayside City Council’s Youth Services on 9599 4622 or email youth_services@bayside.vic.gov.au
