Leading the way in managing fraud risk - Tuesday 20 May 2008

BAYSIDE City Council was awarded 1st place, ahead of 76 other Victorian councils, in the 2007/2008 fidelity risk management audit, conducted by the Municipal Association of Victoria (MAV) in February 2008.

Bayside Acting Mayor Councillor James Long said the result was excellent news for Bayside and was an improvement from the 2006/2007 audit, where Bayside came 5th.

“The MAV’s audit measures Council’s commitment to comprehensively manage fraud risks, to verify that fraud exposures are identified, assessed and controlled and that employees are fully aware of their accountabilities to play their part to minimise fraud risks.

“Leading the sector demonstrates that Bayside City Council is committed to managing fidelity risk at a very high standard and ensures financial procedures and policies are thorough and adhered to by staff,” Cr Long said.
