Stories of love will be told at VIVA I’amore, the next music concert featured as part of the Early Music in the Very Round program.
The concert will be held on Sunday 4 May at the St Cuthbert’s Presbyterian Church, 10 Wilson Street, Brighton at 2.15pm.
The opera seria of the 18th Century was a style of musical drama that told mainly of love won and lost. It featured the vastly popular da capo arie, which displayed the singer’s virtuosity in spectacular fashion.
In this program, works by Handel, Vivaldi and Pergolesi will be performed by Jennifer Cook (soprano), Adam Masters (Baroque oboe), Pei-Jun Tan (harpsichord) and Christopher Evans (viola da gamba).
Cultural Advisory Committee Member and Dendy Ward Councillor Kristin Stegley said the Resonance Early Music Series had made Bayside one of Melbourne’s centres of early music.
“The Early Music in the Very Round program has been a great success and has drawn large audiences from Melbourne and beyond to enjoy the performances by international artists and gifted newcomers to the early music scene.
“I really encourage residents and visitors to attend Viva I’amore or any of the other concerts in the series and experience what this beautiful music has to offer,” Cr Stegley said.

Ave Maria - Sunday 1 June
The Musical Entertainer - Sunday 6 July
Three of a Kind - Sunday 3 August
Parthenia - Sunday 7 September
