Bayside Architectural Trail wins award - Tuesday 03 June 2008

THE Bayside Architectural Trail has been awarded Best Walk/Tour Award in the 2008 Victorian Community History Awards.

The Trail book was judged on content and presentation, in the spirit of presenting innovative ways of recording community history across the State.

Bayside Mayor Councillor Andrew McLorinan said Council was delighted to receive the Award for the Bayside Architectural Trail that was described as an outstanding entry in its category.

“I believe the Bayside Architectural Trail book is a wonderful resource that the community can use now and into the future.

“The book contains a great deal of information about the architectural history of Bayside, how the built environment has developed, as well as some information on the designers and builders. The 104 buildings described in the booklet are recorded in perpetuity.

“The book contains beautiful photos and details of some of Bayside’s most glorious Victorian period properties, through the Edwardian and Inter-war periods, the mid and late 20th century, right up to the modern and contemporary styles of the last decade.

“I congratulate Council’s Urban Strategy and Culture Department staff on developing the awarding-winning Trail book,” Cr McLorinan said.

Copies of the Bayside Architectural Trail book is available free to residents from Council’s Corporate Centre (76 Royal Avenue, Sandringham) and can be viewed on this webiste. Click here to open.
