PEOPLE with disabilities, their carers, parents and service providers are being encouraged to have their say about what could be enhanced within the community to improve quality of life.
Bayside Mayor Councillor James Long said Bayside City Council and the City of Port Phillip had organised two forums to give people with disabilities and those that support them the opportunity to have their say.
“Council wants to know what is working well in the community, and what could be done better or be established within the community to make the lives of people with disabilities easier.
“Tasks like taking transport, going shopping and meeting up with friends can be challenging for people with disabilities. I encourage people to attend one of the forums to help Council understand what can be improved,” Cr Long said.
Information from the forums will be used to plan a way forward to make the cities of Bayside and Port Phillip more accessible places for ‘all’ people.
Two forums are being held:
- For young people under 25 with disabilities, and carers, parents and family members on Wednesday 22 April from 10am to 2pm at Holmesglen Institute of TAFE (488 South Road, Moorabbin).
- For people with disabilities, carers, parents and family members, service providers on Friday 24 April from 10am to 2pm at St Kilda Town Hall (Corner Carlisle Street and Brighton Road, St Kilda) .
Lunch and refreshments will be provided and there are door prizes to be won.
