BAYSIDE City Council has excelled in being the 5th best performing council, out of 79 Victorian councils, for its low WorkCover claim rate in 2007, according to figures provided by Council’s WorkCover insurer GIO.

Bayside Mayor Councillor Andrew McLorianan said the result was good news for the Bayside community.

 “Having a low claims rate helps keep our insurance premium low. It also shows that we are taking occupational, health and safety and return to work of injured workers seriously,” Cr McLorinan said.
