International policy

International policy provides guidance for governments and creates opportunities to learn about sustainable Open Space Management in a variety of contexts.

Cities for Climate Protection (CCP): The CCP program helps Local Government and their communities reduce greenhouse gas emissions and their impact on the environment. This is achieved through the completetion of five milestones set for councils.
Agenda 21 - Coasts and Oceans: This policy, aquatic environments, introduces a new method for managing bays, coasts and oceans. Recognising the integrated nature of coasts, oceans and seas, 'Chapter 17' has influenced the development of Integrated Coastal Management.
Ramsar Agreement: The Ramsar Convention on Wetlands is an international treaty designed to reduce negative environmental impacts on wetland areas. Australia is part of this treaty and this site is a good reference for understanding issues relating to the sustainable management of wetlands.
