DearReader.com
DearReader is run by Suzanne Beecher and she has nine different book groups focussing on different styles of writing: Non-Fiction, Business, Fiction, Good News, Horror, Mystery, Pre-publication, Romance, Teen, Science-Fiction and Audio Book. Readers are emailed a five minute sample of a book for one week each month. By the end of the week you'll have read a couple of chapters. If you like the book you get yourself a copy, read to the end and join the online discussion.
ANZ Litlovers
ANZ LitLovers was formed in 2002 by Lisa Hill in Melbourne and Kim Dwyer in Noosa, and has members from all over Australia. It’s an online Yahoo book group for lovers of Australian and New Zealand literature, and members must be residents of Australia or New Zealand. We define ANZ literature as any book written by a Kiwi or an Aussie, (including expats) or set in Australia or New Zealand. We choose mainly contemporary fiction, but include a ‘classic’ choice for the summer holidays. We also choose two international titles each year, and enjoy friendly and relaxed chat about any other books we read as well. We vote for our book choices at the end of each year, and we try to make sure that books are affordable paperbacks and also readily available from libraries. Discussion starts on the 8th of each month, and if we have two titles in a month, the second discussion begins on the 22nd. Our reading schedule, rating scale and many other book-related links are on our website:
Membership of ANZ LitLovers is by invitation only, but we welcome queries from keen readers at any time. There is no cost to belong. Please contact Lisa at gunung2@bigpond.net.au or Chris at capel@tpg.com.au
The Book Group List
This site is for members of yahoo.com's bookgrouplist, an online book discussion group of over 1,000 members. Every two weeks discussion begins on a new book. Ideally, participants will have read the book before discussion begins. Moderators provide discussion questions to spark conversation, members add their own comments and questions, and the messages start flying!
Book Worms Virtual Book Club
Another Yahoo! Group site the Bookworms read and discuss a book each month.
Literary Fiction Lovers
Literary Fiction Lovers… we are a group of interesting, intelligent, enthusiastic and friendly people enjoying contemporary writers who challenge our perceptions and make us question ideals, morals and standards. We enjoy writers who can make us uncomfortable or can weave magic with their words. For fiction that stands on the quality of the writing alone…Literary Fiction and the LiteraryFictionLovers book and reading club.
