Approval of Bayside Planning Scheme Amendment C87, Brighton Town Hall Heritage Precinct
The Minister for Planning has approved Amendment C87 to the Bayside Planning Scheme. The Amendment applies the Heritage Overlay to the Brighton Town Hall Heritage Precinct (HO764) and updates clauses 21.06 (Built Environment & Heritage) and 22.05 (Heritage Policy) of the Bayside Planning Scheme accordingly.
The Minister made the following changes to the Amendment:
- Removed reference to 9 Boxshall Street, Brighton from the statement of significance for HO764 and in Clause 22.05 and removed 9 Boxshall Street, Brighton from the HO map, consistent with the recommendation of the Planning Panel, but not consistent with Council's resolution; and
- Removed reference to the former Fire Station from the statement of significance for HO764 in Clause 22.05. This change was requested by Council to correct an error in the adopted document, which excluded the fire station consistent with the Panel recommendation.
Therefore 9 Boxshall Street, Brighton and the Former Fire Station at 10-12 Boxshall Street, Brighton are not within the Heritage Overlay.
The Amendment came into operation on the date the notice was published in the Government Gazette, which occurred on 3 October 2013.
