Transport is key to our daily lives, helping us get to work, get to school, go shopping and visit family and friends well beyond where we live.
How we are moving around our neighbourhoods and cities is central to current considerations around environmental sustainability, the metropolitan-wide planning of Melbourne and considering suitable locations for new development.
To ensure that change is managed appropriately, further strategic work is required on transport issues to ensure a more sustainable transport system is created in Bayside.
We need to consider how we can encourage more sustainable options such as walking and cycling, and identify areas where the transport network could be improved.

Council is preparing an Integrated Transport Strategy in 2011. This will map the way in which Bayside can take forward local ideas and proposals for developing a more sustainable transport system, including how we can influence and work with others to deliver improvements.
Community feedback will be used to help Council scope the integrated transport strategy and inform its development. Council therefore invites community feedback on the transport challenges facing Bayside and how they can be addressed as part of the Integrated Transport Strategy.
