Membership of Bayside Library Service is free to all people. You can join at any branch of the library by presenting proof of your name and current address. There is no minimum age for joining, but those under the age of 18 years require a signature from their parent or guardian. Or you can be a Web Member.
Web Membership
Web Membership entitles you to access the Online Databases provided by the library service. Anyone can be a Web Member and use the library resources available on the website.
You may join the library online by clicking on the link after you have read and accepted the membership conditions.
You can use your Web Member number to place a reservation on items available for loan before you become a full member. To become a full member with borrowing privileges please visit your nearest branch library with photo ID (if you are under 18 a parent/guardian must bring their ID) and we will issue your permanent membership card.
Conditions of Membership
- All items (except magazines) may be loaned for four weeks.
- Magazines two-week loan only.
- To borrow items you must present your library card or photo ID.
- You may borrow up to thirty items on your card. These can be borrowed from and returned to any branch of the Bayside Library Service.
- Overdue fines are charged for late return of items.
- Overdue notices are a courtesy reminder for your convenience. A small fee is charged for processing notices.
- All items (unless reserved by another borrower) can be renewed twice. Overdue items may be renewed under staff discretion.
- A reservation and/or Inter Library Loan service is available for those items which are on loan, available at another branch or at another library service.
- Membership privileges will be suspended if borrowers owe $5 or more for the late or non-return of library items.
- All costs incurred by the Library Service due to items lost or damaged whilst in your care must be reimbursed.
- The borrower or guarantor must pay all overdue fines.
- All reservation, Inter-Library Loan and lost membership card charges are non-refundable.
- Please notify the library immediately of any change of name or address. Please report lost cards to the library immediately, you will be held responsible for any items borrowed before the loss is reported.
- Any money you have credited to your library card for printer/copier use is unable to be refunded in the event of a lost card
- Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties.
- The Library service is subject to Bayside City Council By-Laws, Library Local Law No. 4.
Membership details are confidential and will not be disclosed to other parties. Council collects your/your child’s personal information for the purpose of processing your/your child’s membership application. We are unable to process this application without this information.
