The gardens are available for weekend only bookings by contacting Council.                        

Xavier College manages and occupies the homestead, including the veranda.

Black Rock House


The grounds of this historical property are commonly used for wedding photos,  however the house itself is set up as a museum and is available for viewing only.

Black Rock House was originally built in 1856 as a holiday resort for Charles Ebden, a Victorian Parliamentarian and a leading citizen of the time.  It is currently registered with the Heritage Commission for the Preservation of Historic Buildings, and ongoing restoration and renovation is being carried out with community and Council support.  The primary aim is to ensure a faithful restoration of the house as it was in the 1860s.

Open for inspection: Sundays between 2pm & 4pm.

Entry: $3 Adult, $1.50 Child/Concession, $7 Family
