Hard waste collection
Hard waste is removed twice a year, free of charge.
To find out when your next hard waste collection is, view the Bayside Hard Waste and Bundled Branches Map and Calendar:
An information leaflet giving notice of your collection day will be placed in your letterbox approximately 10 days prior to scheduled pick-up in your area.
Please do not place any material out for collection until you receive this leaflet.
Items suitable for collection include:
- tin, scrap iron, spouting and other waste metal products (length not to exceed two metres).
- sinks, wash basins, and chinaware.
- household furniture such as chairs, couches, beds, and mattresses.
- tools, equipment and mowers.
- toys, old sporting goods and playground equipment.
- carpet and linoleum, must be rolled and tied,(no longer than 2.0 metres and limited to 1.0 cubic metre - small room size).
- up to ten pieces of timber (neatly tied and not exceeding 2.0 metres in length).
- household appliances including refrigerators, stoves, televisions, washing machines and other electrical appliances. Doors on refrigerators and freezers must be removed.
- hot water services.
Council will not collect the following items:
- waste from industrial and commercial premises and businesses operated from home
- waste material from construction, renovation or demolition of domestic buildings (this includes bricks, stones, concrete, rubble, excavation material and fencing concrete blocks or edging).
- household garbage
- clay, sand or soil
- liquid waste including paints and paint tins, oils, poisons, swimming pool chemicals etc
- hazardous or offensive waste including asbestos
- car parts, engine blocks, or tyres
- garden material
- broken glass or ashes
- cardboard and newspapers
- any item longer than two metres and/or items too heavy for lifting onto a truck by two people.
Volume: The total amount of material placed out for collection should not exceed a volume of:
- 2 metres x 2 metres x 1 metre high. (Individual items can be a maximum of 2 metres in height or length).
Note: The amount of carpet that will be collected is limited to 1 cubic metre. For child safety reasons, before placing any refrigerator, freezer or trunk on the nature strip, you must first remove every door and lid.
