Youth Strategy and Action Plan 2010-2013

Bayside City Council, in collaboration with young people, parents, community members and service providers have develop the Youth Strategy and Action Plan that strives to optimise the health and wellbeing of young people and their families in Bayside.
The Youth Strategy and Action Plan 2010-2013 is a three year strategic plan that will provide direction for the development and coordination of services that impact on young people aged between 10 and 25 years and their families.

National Youth Week

National Youth Week was a great succes again in 2012!

Bayside City Council’s Youth Services involved young people in the week of 13 to 22 April with the theme “Imagine. Create. Inspire.” There were fantastic events, activities and competitions. All three events celebrated the achievements, talents and abilities of local young people created positive partnerships with many local schools, agencies and community groups. All events were developed, organised and run by local young people who have came together to help recognise, award and celebrate the young people of Bayside.

The  skateboard and scooter competitions were held on Saturday 21 April 2012 at Elsternwick Skate Park, Bent Road, Brighton North.

National Youth Week Nominations

What are the Bayside Youth Awards??
The “Be inspired” Bayside youth awards night is a celebration evening to recognise young people’s contributions to their community, as well as to give young people the opportunity and space to showcase their talents and achievements.  The awards evening will be held to recognise all nominees achievements and to present them with certificates.  Friends and family members are most welcome to attend to join in the celebrations.  Nominees and nominators will be contacted before the event with more information about the evening.

When? Wednesday 18 April 2012
Time?   6.30pm – 8pm
Where?  The Brighton Town Hall – located at the corner Wilson and Carpenter Streets, Brighton

  • Young people aged between 10 and 25 years
  • Young people who live, study, work or have significant ties to Bayside
  • Young people who have made a difference to their community
  • Young people who have made a difference in the last 12 months

Who can nominate?

  • Teachers
  • Youth workers or support workers
  • Sports coaches and recreation leaders
  • Community members
  • Parents
  • Young people

The categories you can nominate are:

Community
Young people who have made a significant contribution to their community by dedicating their time and energy to their community, such as volunteering and community action.

Creative
Young people who show passion and dedication to try and excel in music, dance, drama or art and achieve positive outcomes in that area.

Active
Young people who are determination to achieve positive outcomes in the area of sports and recreation.

Personal
Young people who show courage and determined to overcome individual challenges such as physical abilities and personal disadvantages.
