Author talk: A Woman's Work with Victoria Purman

A Woman's work by Victoria Purman book cover

Best-selling South Australian author, Victoria Purman, is returning to Brighton Library to celebrate the release of her latest novel A Woman's Work.

The astonishingly rich prize of the 1956 Australian Women's Weekly cookery competition offers two women the possibility of a new kind of future, in this compassionate look at the extraordinary lives of ordinary women - our mothers and grandmothers - in a beautifully realised post-war Australia.

Victoria Purman is an Australian top ten and USA Today bestselling fiction author. Victoria came to Brighton last year with her beautiful book The Nurses’ War. Her 2019 book, The Women’s Pages, was an Australian bestseller, as were her novels, The Land Girls and The Last of the Bonegilla Girls. Her earlier novel The Three Miss Allens was a USA Today bestseller. She is a regular guest at writers' festivals, a mentor and workshop presenter across Australia, and has judged the fiction category for the 2018 Adelaide Festival Awards for Literature and the 2022 ASA/HQ Commercial Fiction Prize for an unpublished manuscript.

Copies of the book will be available to purchase on the evening.
