An afternoon of dance in the Renaissance

Take time out to enjoy the sights and sounds of Europe in the 16th – 17th centuries this weekend.

The Rippon Lea Renaissance Dancers will present choreographies from European royal courts along with more rustic samples from the countryside - including a suite of jolly branles.

The Early Music Consort will accompany the dances and also play major works by great composers of the era. Instruments will Include wide-bore recorders, curtails, krumhorns, lute, fidels and the Queen Elizabeth virginal. 

All performers will wear Renaissance costumes and vocalist Erika Tandiono will use historic gesture.
