Amendment C165

Amendment C165 applies to 5 & 7 Well Street, Brighton. 5 Well Street is currently used as a car park, and 7 Well Street is vacant land.

Both land parcels are owned by Council and are currently within the General Residential Zone Schedule 2. The land parcels are also identified within the Brighton-Church Street Major Activity Centre.

About C165

The Amendment proposes to rezone the aforementioned land to a Public Use Zone to facilitate the use and development of the land for local government purposes.

Where are we up to?

Council considered the recommendation of the Panel at its Ordinary Meeting on 18 February 2020 and resolved to adopt Amendment C165 and advocate to the Minister for Planning for the approval of the Amendment.

Council has now submitted Amendment C165 to the Minister for Planning for approval. Submitters and interested parties will be advised of the Ministers decision.  

Council also resolved to undertake community engagement with adjoining residents of 7 Well Street, Brighton to manage amenity impacts from the proposed at-grade carpark if the rezoning is supported.
