An outstanding team of bushland, parkland and nursery volunteers work tirelessly helping to maintain our inland and coastal bushlands with bushcare maintenance and in propagation activities such as sowing seeds, striking cuttings and caring for developing stock. New volunteers are welcome to the Program.
The nursery opened in 1978 with the aim to protect Bayside's biodiversity by growing plants from local seed stock and through raising awareness and appreciation of Bayside's indigenous flora in public and private landscapes.
It exists to benefit the community of Bayside and to protect and enhance Bayside’s biodiversity and prevent local flora extinction through increasing awareness, appreciation and the use of Bayside’s indigenous flora in public and private landscapes. Supported by volunteers, the nursery propagates, produces and sells high-quality indigenous plants of local provenance, which are otherwise unavailable.
Each year, we grow and supply around 100,000 indigenous plants, grasses and trees for planting in our parks, inland and coastal bushland reserves. The nursery sells stock to the local golf courses and is open to all members of the public.
