For children and teens at Bayside libraries

While our Libraries remian closed to visitors, you may reserve books online or enjoy our wide collection of online resources including; books, magazines, newspapers and movies. Our click and collect service is open from Monday to Friday between 1 and 5pm.

If you can't make it to the Library we can deliver to your home. Call the Library on 9261 7840 to arrange a collection time or delivery. The online Library is always open to you for free for all the family to enjoy.

    The library is a great place to bring the kids for some free entertainment. Not only are there books galore on loads of topics, you can also choose from audiobooks, magazines or the latest DVDs.

    Kids can spend an hour challenging a friend on xBox, Playstation or WiiU or try some easier games on the iPads. Holiday program events and activities make the school holidays fly by. We hope to see you soon.

    Storytime (Watch Storytime online)

    Storytime introduces children to language, literature and the library. The best way to lay the foundations for a life-long love of reading is to introduce children to a wide variety of books and making reading an everyday part of life.

    They run from February to December during school terms and take a break during school holidays.

    Sessions are tailored to suit different age groups and include stories, songs and lots of fun. Find out more below.

    Baby Rhyme Time

    Baby Rhyme Time is held regularly at each branch and introduces your child to language, literature and the library. By exposing your child to a wide variety of the best books available and making reading an everyday part of life, you will lay the foundations for a lifelong love of reading.

    • 0 to 18 months
    • Sessions are 15 to 20 minutes
    • 10.30am to 10.50am (2.30pm to 2.50pm at Beaumaris)

    Where and which days?

    Beaumaris: 1st & 3rd Tuesday of the month
    Brighton: 2nd & 4th Friday of the month
    Hampton: 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month
    Sandringham: Suspended until June 2020

    Toddler Storytime

    Toddler Storytime caters for the changes in children’s development after 18 months. These sessions include stories, songs and rhymes.

    • 18 months to 3 years
    • Sessions are 25 to 30 minutes
    • 10.30am to 11am

    Where and which days?

    Beaumaris: 1st & 3rd Thursday of the month
    Brighton: 2nd & 4th Monday of the month
    Hampton: 2nd & 4th Thursday of the month
    Sandringham: Suspended until June 2020

    Preschool Storytime

    Sessions include stories, songs, rhymes and an activity. To maximise the benefits available from storytime, it is important for you to listen to the stories with your children and participate in the activities.

    • 3 to 5 years
    • Sessions are 40 to 45 minutes
    • 10.30am to 11.15am

    Beaumaris: Monday and Friday
    Brighton: Tuesday and Thursday
    Hampton: Monday and Wednesday
    Sandringham: Suspended until June 2020

    During school holidays, our libraries have a variety of activities and events to educate and entertain. 

    Bookings open three weeks prior to commencement. Full program and booking details available in the what's on booklet or website calendar of events.
