State representation
Legislative Assembly
The Legislative Assembly (lower house of the Parliament of Victoria) is the house of responsible government and consists of 88 members elected for 4-year terms. Bayside City Council consists of the state electoral districts of:
- Bentleigh including parts of Hampton East.
- Brighton including the suburbs of Brighton, and parts of Brighton East and Hampton.
- Sandringham including the suburbs of Beaumaris, Black Rock and Sandringham, and parts of Cheltenham, Hampton and Highett.
Legislative Council
The Legislative Council (upper house of the Parliament of Victoria) is the house of review and contains 40 members, elected from 8 multi-member electorates known as regions. Bayside City Council is within the Southern Metropolitan Region.
Federal representation
The House of Representatives is the lower house of the Parliament of Australia, the upper house being the Senate. Bayside is located within the federal electoral division of Goldstein.
