Councillor Sonia Castelli has been a resident of Bayside for over 15 years and a Councillor since 2016. She is widowed with three adult children and was a registered nurse for many years and also worked in the finance broking industry.
Re-elected in 2020, Cr Castelli looks forward to continuing to support the residents of Ivison Ward and all residents of Bayside.
Cr Castelli describes herself as a hardworking, organised and a motivated Councillor who will continue fighting inappropriate development to protect Bayside’s neighbourhood character and residential amenity. She believes that the Planning Scheme must be respected to maintain the village atmosphere of Bayside and has committed that Ivison Ward will gets its fair share of Council spending.
Cr Castelli intends to remain vigilant on Council finances and ensuring that Council remains debt free. She has committed to protecting public open space obtained by Council on the old CSIRO site and also supports the community need for a public hydrotherapy pool, especially for our older residents. Cr Castelli values the happiness, safety, welfare and peace of mind of the residents of Bayside.
