Bayside City Council is celebrating Australia Day 2018 with a flag raising and citizenship ceremony at Black Rock House Gardens, Ebden Avenue, Black Rock.
The 67 new Australian citizens from 20 countries will join Bayside Mayor, Cr Laurence Evans, Councillors and other dignitaries at the ceremony which will commence at 9.30am.
Members of the Bayside community are also welcome to attend and celebrate. Refreshments will be served.
Bayside City Council conducts citizenship ceremonies on behalf of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.
The ceremony is the final step in becoming an Australian citizen and involves each participant making the pledge of commitment to Australia. The pledge is a legal requirement.
For many new citizens, the ceremony is an important occasion and opportunity to celebrate with family and friends.
