Join Jo Oliver, author of the recently published monograph Jessie Traill: A biography as she discusses the life and work of Jessie Traill, one of the trailblazing artists from Her Own Path.
Jessie Traill was an artist, traveller, humanitarian and independent spirit who developed her artistic skills from an early age. During World War I Jessie interrupted her career to work as a voluntary nurse in France, later raising funds for and revisiting war-torn Europe. She went on to become one of Australia’s most outstanding etchers, a field uncommon for women of her time. Jo Oliver will explore Jessie’s extraordinary life which began in the Bayside suburb of Brighton.
Jessie Traill: A biography is available at all good bookstores or borrow it from Bayside Libraries.
