Presented by VOX Choral Ensemble.
Experience the passionate world of the madrigal, from its origins in popular song from the sixteenth-century through to the operatic music of its ultimate exponent, Claudio Monteverdi.
Ballarat-based classical vocal ensemble VOX take you on a journey of discovery starting with a dramatic evocation of the Battle of Marignano, through to passionate explorations of love songs from Italy and England. The concert culminates in the tragic brilliance of the Lament of Ariadne, from an opera written by Monteverdi for the Gonzaga Court in Mantua in 1608.
