Maternal and Child Health appointment information: Telephone only

All Maternal and Child Health consultations will be conducted via telephone, effective immediately. This includes the home visit consultation.

All groups are suspended. This includes the First Time Parent Group, Sleep and Settling and the Food Talk.

Drop-in sessions will cease for face-to-face consultations but telephone consultations will be available. Appointments must be booked via 9599 4755.

MCH nurses will contact parents/carers with existing bookings via telephone at the scheduled time of their booking.

We provide a free maternal and child health service to all families with children from birth to 6 years of age. Find out about when child development checks happen and how to view, change and attend your appointments or go to a drop-in session.

The service is staffed by registered nurses with general, midwifery and postgraduate maternal, child and family health qualifications.

Your hospital midwife will notify us of your baby's birth. A maternal and child health nurse will contact you by phone and offer you a home visit as part of the program. Other visits are then generally conducted at your local maternal and child health centre.

These include visits to check your child's development at 2 weeks, 4 weeks, 8 weeks, 4 months, 8 months, 12 months, 18 months, 2 years, and 3.5 years.

Your Child Health Record

Hospitals provide a free booklet to all new parents called a Child Health Record. You are advised to have this booklet with you when your child sees health professionals so they can update after the visit. You should also record all immunisations in it.
