The new building will be accessible and will include safe, family friendly facilities for the community and visitors.
The location of the new building will result in no loss of car parking or open space, and will have no impact on the sea wall.
The new building has been designed to respond to the harsh coastal conditions, while using sustainable materials and creating interiors that are bright, airy and hygienic.
The existing Banksia trees will be retained to maintain the natural character of the area, while some coastal wattle will be removed to allow the new facility.
New beach showers and a drinking fountain will be provided adjacent to the facility to improve foreshore amenities in the area.
Works commenced at the start of May and are expected to be completed mid-July 2017.
