Bayside’s very own chamber orchestra start of this year’s Resonance Music Series with a wonderful Sunday afternoon concert on Sunday 19 March.
Titled Mozart to the Cor the program features works that were inspired by the work of W.A Mozart as well as presenting a work by Mozart himself.
Commencing with the Australian composer Colin Brumby’s Scena for Cor Anglais and Strings, this lyrically beautiful work will feature soloist Susan Batten, before moving to Mozart with his much loved Symphony 27 in G Major.
The next bracket has 2 works that were inspired by Mozart. Jonathan Dove’s wind serenade Figures in the Garden is based on Mozart’s famous opera The Marriage of Figaro and was commissioned by Glyndebourne as part of their 1991 Mozart bicentenary celebrations.
The final work is Brahms’s Quintet for Clarinet and string quartet which is modelled on an earlier version by Mozart.
