The Ballarat ensemble, Singers of the Black Book, are specialists in chant and song from 12–13th century Europe. The Early Music Consort is noted for the hurdy gurdy, Arabian and Saracen lutes, the portative organ and other ancient instruments. And the Rippon Lea Dancers are Australia’s only exponents of the dances of the period – many reconstructed from ancient manuscripts. Assemble the 3 groups, put them into period costumes and you will have “Medieval Magic”.
