Bayside Inclusive Grants announced

Monday, April 8, 2019

Fourteen community organisations will champion inclusiveness with the help of grants from Bayside City Council’s $50,000 Inclusive Bayside Partnership Grants program. These community and not-for-profit organisations will encourage greater participation and inclusion of people with a disability in community life in Bayside.

Bayside Mayor, Cr Michael Heffernan said:

“This is the second year we have separated the Inclusive Grants from the general Community Grants program to give a special focus to inclusion.

“Council wants everyone in Bayside to be supported and engaged to live an active and healthy lifestyle, regardless of age, geographical location, personal circumstance or physical ability.”

Some of the exciting new initiatives include:

  • Sandybeach Centre will hold a fashion show where people with a sensory, physical or intellectual disability and/or aged are the models
  • Hampton Life Saving Club will deliver a disability awareness and inclusion day and develop a video about including people with mobility issues at the beach
  • Fairway Aged Care will extend their Triobike program where volunteer pilots (riders) enable two elderly or disabled passengers to explore coastal bike paths
  • Bayside Toy Library will offer additional play sessions targeting parents of children with development delay and disability
  • Dance for Parkinson’s will develop an online platform for individuals with Parkinson’s disease and carers to deliver at home exercises

Congratulations to all the grant recipients and their worthy programs:
