The Library home delivery service is available to all Bayside residents of any age who live at home or an aged-care facility and cannot visit a library.
The service has 30 volunteers who deliver to about 1,000 clients. One of the bonuses of the home-library service, is that there are no overdue fines as the items are always collected by a friendly volunteer before they are due.
Clients can borrow up to 15 items at a time including fiction and non-fiction books, large print and coffee-table titles, books on CD, DVDs, music CDs and magazines. Items are also available in seven other languages.
Council assesses residents for their eligibility to join the free home delivery service. Library members who are homebound for a short period of time or don't have time to visit a library can also have books delivered for a small fee or annual subscription.
To register to receive the service or volunteer phone 9261 7857 or email baysidelibrary [at] bayside.vic.gov.au.
Some residents may also be eligible to visit their local library by travelling in Council’s community bus. Phone Council on 9599 4444 to book.
