Cat curfew updates

Your feline friends are due an extra few hours of home time, purely for their safety and wellbeing. With the end of daylight savings on Sunday 2 April, comes an important update regarding Council’s cat curfews.

During non-daylight savings hours, cats must be confined to their owner’s property between 6pm-6am. As part of our Domestic Animal Management Plan, we’ve strengthened restrictions for cats to protect both their safety and our native wildlife, and also prevent community nuisance from roaming cats. The cat curfew during daylight savings remains between the hours of 9pm-6am.

The updated cat curfew hours are an important step towards transitioning to 24-hour cat containment in 2025/2026, which will require cats to be kept on their owners’ properties at all times. Bayside’s Domestic Animal Management Plan is a four-year plan that aims to improve and encourage responsible pet ownership.
