Celebrating Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition

Wednesday, September 8, 2021

For the past 21 years Council has taken much joy in delivering The Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition which showcases young, up and comers who have a connection to Bayside. We are delighted to announce the 2021 Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition has been another successful year of celebrating emerging young artists in Bayside.

The Young People of Bayside Art Exhibition is organised by Bayside Youth Services and the Boombox Events FReeZA committee, a dedicated youth event committee who plan drug, smoke and alcohol-free events for their peers in Bayside.

The theme for this year’s exhibition was Embracing the moment. The Boombox Events FReeZA committee chose this theme to encourage artists to reflect on the opportunities currently presented to them, despite the current global turmoil.

We received 105 submissions from young people across the municipality including sculptures, paintings, drawings and photography- all of a high calibre.

Congratulations to our ten winners

Adrian Spurr, the competition judge, has provided the following feedback to all entrants of the exhibition: "I thought the exhibition overall describes a diversity of artistic exploration and enquiry and the joy of making that is remarkable. The presentation of all artwork is excellent. To all artists, to have your work exhibited in the Council offices is a prize in itself. The winners of each category were hard to identify because there are so many great works, everyone should be proud of their efforts."
