Bayside City Council will purchase the heritage listed Sandringham Masonic Hall in Abbott Street, Sandringham.
The site will provide valuable space for a range of community services and activities. It is adjacent to the Sandringham Activity Centre and well serviced by public transport.
Bayside City Council Mayor, Cr Laurence Evans said that Council was proud to be purchasing such a significant heritage building which could ensure it would will be preserved and accessible to the community.
“We are proud of our heritage in Bayside and the Sandringham Masonic Hall is a wonderful example of an important period in Bayside’s built history,” he said.
“We are very happy to be able to protect this significant building as well as establish a new space for the community to use and enjoy for the future, Cr Evans said.
The sale is conditional on a building and heritage assessment.
